Looije receives the visit of students from ‘Lycée’ Alphonse Daudet

By 16 May, 2019 No Comments

Last week Looije hosted the visit of a group of French students from the ‘Lycée Alphonse Daudet’ in Nîmes. The students, who are currently in Murcia as part of an exchange program, discovered first-hand the manipulation process of the cherry tomato, from its entrance to the packhouse to its final preparation in order to be distributed to the ten different countries Looije currently exports to.

Guided by Pedro Lozano, director of Communication and Maketing of O.P. Looije; and Mª Ángeles Ruano, currently doing an internship in the company; the 14 students and 2 teachers from the french highschool, started the itinerary in the office facilities, getting to know the different departments of the agricultural company specialized in cherry tomato. Then, they visited the training room and the meeting room, right before entering the ‘musseum-hall’, where they were able to learn the history of Looije since its establishment in 1998, learning, for example, the know-how of the new packhouse.

After making several questions to their hosts, the students from Nîmes went back to the reception in the building that O.P. Looije owns. They finished the visit tasting Sarita cherry tomato, as if they were professional tasters.

Activities with educational centres

It is not the first time that Looije carries out this type of iniciatives. Nevertheless, in the last few weeks several workers from the company visited the ‘C.E.I.P. Ramón y Cajal’ or the school ‘María Inmaculada’, amongst other educational centres. That is why the company reminds the teaching comunity its availability to carry out complimentary visits to school centres or hosting the visit in their facilities.
